What roles do thrust piers, support piers, and anti-slip components play?

2018-03-07

Thrust blocks: Used at fittings such as bends, tees with varying diameters, and blind flanges to prevent pipe displacement.

Support piers: Used at nodes such as fire hydrants, water meters, valves, and check valves, these piers provide structural support to prevent the weight of these pipeline accessories from causing them to sink.

Pier: Made of cement concrete, this structure wraps and secures the entire pipeline, often used in locations where backfilling with soil isn’t possible—such as inside tunnels.

Slip-resistant piers: Used in areas with steep slopes—typically when the slope exceeds 1:6—to prevent pipelines from sliding downward.
